Privacy Policy
This explains what Still Insurable collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it — in plain sentences, not legal boilerplate. If something here isn't clear, email [email protected] and we'll explain it.
Effective 2026-05-11. We date this page whenever we change it.
The short version
- Just reading the site? We don't ask you for anything, and we don't use tracking cookies. We do count visits with a privacy-friendly analytics tool that doesn't use cookies and doesn't build a profile of you.
- Used the Get connected form? You give us your name, email, your state, your situation, and — only if you choose to — your phone number. We share those details with one or more licensed insurance brokers and may share them with partners, and we may add your email to a mailing list. We tell you that on the form, and you can opt out anytime (see your rights below).
- We may earn referral fees or affiliate commissions. That's covered in Affiliate & referral compensation and on the about page.
Who we are
Still Insurable is an independent editorial project that publishes dated, sourced information about home-insurance availability in the United States, and offers an optional service that connects people with licensed insurance brokers. We are not an insurer, a broker, or an agent. The site is operated by Perfect Life Network LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. For privacy questions, the contact is [email protected], and for corrections to published facts it's [email protected].
What we collect
When you just read the site
- Basic analytics. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly: it doesn't set cookies, doesn't fingerprint you, and gives us only aggregate numbers — page views, rough referrer, country, device type. We can't use it to identify you.
- Server logs. Our host (Cloudflare) processes standard request data — IP address, browser type, the page requested — to serve the site, protect against abuse, and keep it up. We don't mine these logs; they age out on Cloudflare's normal schedule.
- A theme setting. If you switch the site between light and dark mode, your browser stores that choice in
localStorageunder the keytheme. It never leaves your device and we never see it. That's the only thing the site stores in your browser. We don't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking, and there are no third-party trackers embedded in the pages.
When you use the Get connected form
You choose to give us:
- Your name and email address (required).
- Your state and a short description of your situation (e.g. "I got a non-renewal notice") so a broker can be matched to you and arrive with context.
- Your phone number — optional. We only ask for it because some people would rather get a call than an email. If you give it and tick the box that says a call is fine, that's your consent for a broker to phone or text you (more on that under Phone calls and texts).
- Technical details that come with any web form — the time you submitted it, your IP address, and which page you came from — kept for fraud prevention and record-keeping.
When you email us
If you email us a correction, a privacy request, or anything else, we keep that message and your email address so we can reply and so we have a record of the request.
Why we use it
- To run the site — serve pages, keep them fast, and keep abuse out.
- To understand what's useful — aggregate analytics tell us which guides and state pages people actually read, so we know what to update and write next.
- To provide the broker-referral service you asked for — match you to one or more licensed brokers, pass them your details, and (where you've allowed phone contact) let them call or text you.
- To send you email — if you submitted the form, we may add your email address to a mailing list and use it to send you updates, related offers, and information about products or services from us or from partners. You can unsubscribe at any time (see your rights).
- To meet legal obligations and protect people — respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect the rights and safety of users, partners, and the public.
Who we share it with
We share personal information in the following ways. We are not promising that we never sell or share it — we're telling you plainly how it can move, and giving you a way to opt out.
- Licensed insurance brokers. When you use the Get connected form, we share the details you submitted — including your phone number if you provided one — with one or more licensed insurance brokers, so they can contact you about insurance options. Those brokers are independent businesses; once we've handed off your details, how they use them is governed by their own privacy practices, not ours.
- Service providers. Companies that run things for us — our host (Cloudflare), our database provider, our email-sending and form-processing tools, and automation services we use to route submissions. They handle data on our instructions to provide those services.
- Partners. We may share information you submit through the form, and your email address, with partners — for example other insurance-related services, comparison tools, or marketing partners — who may use it to contact you about their own offerings. Under California law, this kind of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and any exchange of personal information for value, may count as a "sale" or "share." You can opt out — see California privacy rights.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if the law requires it, in response to a valid legal request, or where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers. If the project, the site, or its assets are sold, merged, or otherwise transferred, personal information may be part of what's transferred; we'd require the recipient to honour this policy or give you notice.
We do not share your information with anyone else for their own unrelated purposes beyond what's described here.
The mailing list
If you submit the Get connected form, we may add your email address to our mailing list. We may use that list to send you our own updates and offers, and we may use it — or share it with partners — to send you, or let partners send you, marketing about insurance-related products and services. In other words, the mailing list can be monetised. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email [email protected] to be removed. Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't stop the operational messages tied to a referral you requested (for example, a broker following up).
Phone calls and texts
Giving us a phone number on the form is optional. If you provide one and tick the box agreeing that a call is fine, you are giving prior express written consent for one or more licensed insurance brokers we connect you with to contact you at that number about insurance options — including by automatic telephone dialing system, by artificial or prerecorded voice, and by text message. This consent is not a condition of buying anything, and message and data rates may apply. You can revoke it at any time — tell the broker to stop, reply STOP to a text, or email [email protected] and we'll pass the request along. If you don't provide a phone number or don't tick the box, a broker should contact you by email.
How long we keep it
- Analytics: aggregate only; Cloudflare retains it on its standard schedule (currently a rolling six months).
- Server logs: short-lived; retained by Cloudflare on its normal cycle.
- Form submissions: we keep these for as long as needed to provide the referral service and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance — typically a few years — then we delete or de-identify them.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, after which we keep only the minimum needed to honour your opt-out (so we don't accidentally re-add you).
- Emails to us: kept as long as needed to handle your request and keep a record of it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you and how we've used or shared it.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete it (we'll do so unless we're required to keep it).
- Stop marketing to you — use the unsubscribe link in any email, or ask us directly.
- Opt out of sale or sharing of your personal information — see below.
To make any of these requests, email [email protected]. We may need to verify who you are before we act, to make sure we're not handing your data to someone else. We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA) — Do Not Sell or Share
If you're a California resident, you have the rights above plus the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, as those terms are defined under California law. Because we may share information you submit, and your email address, with partners for their marketing and for cross-context behavioral advertising, that activity may count as a sale or share.
To opt out: email [email protected] with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share". Tell us the email address (and phone number, if you gave us one) you want excluded, and we'll stop sharing your information for those purposes and pass the request to partners we've already shared it with. You can also send us an authorised agent's request, or use a browser-level opt-out signal (such as Global Privacy Control) where your browser sends one — we treat that as a valid opt-out for that browser. California residents may also request the specific categories and pieces of personal information we hold, and the categories of third parties we've disclosed it to, by emailing the same address.
EEA and UK
If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR — including the right to object to processing, to restrict it, and to data portability — and you can complain to your local data-protection authority. Where we rely on consent (for marketing, or for phone contact), you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of this, email [email protected] and we'll help. Note the site is operated from, and data is processed in, the United States.
Children
This site isn't directed at children, and the Get connected form is for adults dealing with their own home insurance. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information — encryption in transit, access controls, reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security; if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll act and notify you as the law requires.
Affiliate & referral compensation
Still Insurable may be paid a referral fee when we connect you with a broker, and may earn affiliate commissions on links to products or services. This never changes your price and never changes what we say about anything. It's explained in plain English on the about page and in our Terms of Use. We mention it here because compensation can be tied to information you've shared (for example, a broker paying a fee after a referral) — so it's part of the picture of how your data moves.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change, and we'll change the "Effective" date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll make that clear on the site. Using Still Insurable after a change means you accept the updated policy.
